Alaskan Malamute Breed Information

Country of origin: US (Alaska)

Also known as: Mal or Mally

Life span:  Up to 14 years

Coat:  Thick, a double coat, with plush undercoat

Color: Gray, black, sable or red, always with white, as well as all white

Litter size: 4-10

Appearance:
-Males: 25 inches (635 mm) and 85 pounds (39 kg)
-Females: 23 inches (584 mm) and 75 pounds (34 kg)

Classification and standards:  FCI:      Group 5 Section 1 #243 ; AKC:     Working ; ANKC:     Group 6 – (Utility) ; CKC:     Group 3 – (Working Dogs) ; KC: (UK)     Working ; NZKC:     Utility; UKC:     Northern Breeds

Other Information:  Generally large breed of domestic dog, originally bred for use as an Alaskan sled dog. The Alaskan Malamutes are sometimes mistaken for a Siberian Husky, but in fact are quite different in many ways. As pets, they have a very quiet temperament and are often loyal to their owners.
